Summer is coming and as any tried and true Dave Matthews Band fan knows, with summer comes Dave. DMB is once again on the road for the summer and will be making a stop in Columbus this year. Die-hard DMB followers were likely very disappointed last year when there was no tour stop in Columbus, meaning fans had to drive several hours to the nearest amphitheater (most likely Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls). But fear not because this year, Dave will be breaking in Columbus' brand new stadium: Huntington Park, the new home to the Columbus Clippers.
In late 2009, Dave Matthews Band was named the Top Touring Act of the Decade by Pollstar, an online industry resource. Dave grossed nearly $530 million between 2000 and 2009 and topped The Rolling Stones, U2, Madonna and Kenny Chesney on Pollstar's list. And anyone who's been at a Dave Matthews Band live show will tell you there is no surprise to these numbers. Live DMB performances are filled with a natural energy and outstanding on-stage musicianship that are hard to be matched, cash figures and statistics aside.
The band continues to support their seventh studio album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, released in August 2009. Dave Matthews Band will be making their 2010 tour stop in Columbus on June 22 at Huntington Park (across from Nationwide Arena). Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster for a hefty $75 per ticket. And while the high price may keep away some of his more casual listeners, it would be surprising if there are any tickets left for sale the morning of the show.
