June 8-13, 2010 @ The Palace Theater

Based on Chicago: A Musical Vaudeville (1975), the Broadway production was revived in late 1996 as Chicago: The Musical. Fairing much better than its predecessor, Chicago: The Musical received six Tony Awards following its return and would later receive two Olivier Awards and a Grammy. It is currently the 6th longest running Broadway show in history.

The story behind the award-winning Broadway production is sexy and edgy, filled with adultery, corruption, and the shameless pursuit and use of fame to literally get away with murder. It follows the two main characters, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, both guilty of murder and facing death. While in prison, both women end up using Billy Flynn as their lawyer, while he pulls the strings of not just his clients but also the courtroom and general public. Throw in a fake pregnancy ploy, a corrupt prison warden, and a faithful yet deceived and betrayed husband, and one may find it hard to believe that the story was originally written in 1926.

While the music and choreography might make you forget about the dark nature of the storyline, there's no denying that Chicago: The Musical is certainly a one-of-a-kind Broadway show with something to offer everyone. You can see Chicago: The Musical at The Palace Theater in Columbus, OH from June 8-13.
